Spoken words with music from Cleveland, Ohio

Dan Smith & The Deep Cleveland Trio

Matinee Motel by Dan Smith & The Deep Cleveland Trio

Recorded by James Kananen

Album Notes

Dan Smith and the Deep Cleveland Trio set out to create something a little different from the usual poetry with music by trying to have the music fit the poem, i.e., the music is not all rock, all jazz, or all noise.

Fellow Cleveland poet Miles Budimir suggested putting music to Smith’s poems in 2010 and this evolved and really came together with the addition of Dan Wenninger on tenor sax.

This CD may not be suitable for children under 17 due to language and some adult content.

The Deep Cleveland Trio

The Deep Cleveland Trio consists of percussion, saxophone, trumpet and bass guitar. Their first CD is Matinee Motel featuring the poetry of Dan Smith and the music of the DCT. The group grew from small beginnings supporting Smith’s poetry readings into something with a life and a groove of its own.Deep Cleveland Trio
