Meet cherry cola champions
I’m running, just after the big rain with my eyes closed. It’s a little dangerous since I could get hit by a car or trip on something and smash my face on a curb stone, it doesn’t matter, it feels good, like i’m going way faster than I’m actually moving. The rain is beating down the canopy at a slowed rate as the track in my cans, the battle of evermore, is picking up. In a single moment: the beat breaks – eyes open – face smacks a tree branch – dousing me with water off the droughted leaves.
This is how I feel about Cherry Cola Champions, drenched, surprised, a little pissed off, but in the end I’m laughing – that was crazy, no harm done. Check them out in this latest feature of Live From Bad Racket.
Jesse Sloan created this little project with Anthony Robinson in 2011. They drove out to Colorado to record last winter, and are releasing the LP on vinyl on August 23rd at the Grog Shop.
You’ll notice that this particular edition of Live from bad racket is different than most. When Jesse and I first started talking about the project he wanted to get a video and audio take that was truly live,
“this is punk music and it only makes sense if you get it live, get the real thing.”
Typically we only shoot with one camera so to try accomplishing the ‘truly live’ goal we recruited the assistance of Michael Carissimi and Richard Walsh at 216 Studios to bring in more cameras more lights and a larger crew than we’ve ever had on set for a bad racket shoot in the past.
We’re really excited for both of these guys, they’re doing a lot for the Cleveland Music scene right now. Share this video flyer and head out to their show if you can.
