Best Worst Idea Ever: Brite Winter Festival Cleveland 2012
Brite Winter Festival. This collection of winter shenanigans began 3 years ago, a bunch of people got together in the middle of February and had a goofy party in the park with a whole bunch of bands playing in the snow.
It was a terrible idea. Cleveland in the winter time could be freezing cold and you never know when we could get 2 tons of snow dropped on our back porch. Naturally I was on board. We had about 4 times the bands in 2011 as in 2010… and we’re keeping up that trend in 2012. If you’re on this list, you probably already know, Brite Winter is going to be very big this year.
February 18th, 2012. 40 groups are playing Brite Winter 2012 – 8 venues in Ohio City, completely free.
Most of the festival roster is filled with friends and clients of Bad Racket from around Cleveland, But there are some backpackers coming in to play too… Bad Veins from Cincinnati, Wild Rompit from Philly, Black Taxi from Brooklyn, Jack & The Bear are trotting down from Michigan, The Black Shades driving up from Kentucky, American War from Columbus. All of you guys who are playing the festival are going to eat and drink for FREE. I’ve arranged for light bistro to have some kegs of Buckeye, Cleveland IPA (my favorite Cleveland Brewery) for the bands and DJs and lots of food too. For those not playing the festival you can get access to the artist’s lounge by buying a wrist band on kickstarter.
