Hey Everybody the New Bad Racket space is ready and open for business. Now located at east 23rd st and Superior, I think you’ll be impressed with the new space!
Bad Racket has moved to a new location and is ready to book your project!
Between sessions, we’ve been moving all the stuff from the old spot on west 45th street, to a new sweet location downtown. (2220 Superior between Hot Cards and Cross Fit to be exact) It’s been a lot of work. 3 days of just moving stuff, and many more of hanging the acoustic treatment panels, wiring, cleaning, and organizing the space. Thanks to everyone who helped with everything. You guys rock! We are now all moved in, gear is hooked up, and we’re ready for sessions!
The new space has a 1000sq ft live room with hardwood flooring, and 2 isolation booths. The control room is much larger than the old spot, with two huge triple paned windows and a smaller window into the main vocal isolation booth (a little dinosaur lives in here, don’t worry he’s a friendly herbivore). There’re a whole bunch bunch of other rooms for office space, gallery space, tool and gear storage, etc. All in all, the whole thing occupies about 3,800sq ft. of creative space. We’re ready to make your dreams come true.
Want to see it for yourself?
We’d love to give you a tour contact James at 216 905 5714 or firstname.lastname@example.org
It’s likely we will have an open house sometime in January, but that’s still in the planning phases. So, come on down, Take a look around, and tell us what you think of it. If you’re feeling extra excited, share the news with your friends and family! Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. Follow your dreams. And have a fun and safe holiday season! 🙂
Live recording Room
The main live room is a 1000 sq ft professionally designed room in a sort of long trapezoid shape with a large triangle piece in the middle for the control room, and the corners taken off. Its sort of difficult to describe, so come see it for yourself! It’s totally awesome!

Another shot of the live room before we began hanging ceiling panels
The space didn’t have any ceiling treatment, so we took all the panels from, the old spot (85 of the 2×4 foot guys) stuffed with rock-wool and covered in different colored fabric. We attached them to the concrete ceiling with pipe hanger and tapcon concrete anchors and a hammer drill. Exhausting and messy work on scaffolding! As of right now, we have about 75% of the space ceiling space covered, leaving the sprinkler system and lights exposed. We hope to add more custom sized panels in strategic places, as well as finish the back corner of space. The wall treatment will be redone using our high performance rock wool acoustic treatment, after we tear out the Owens Corning stuff. Rock wool outperforms any other commercial acoustic treatment, and is cheaper. We’re using mostly the 8# 4″ thick stuff, which is double as absorbent as the fiberglass based stuff that’s in there now. http://www.bobgolds.com/AbsorptionCoefficients.htm

The Control Room
The main mix and control room features almost all the custom furniture and amenities of the last control room (minus the kitchen sink). It has another smaller triple pane glass to the vocal booth which is quiet as a mouse, and its likely you could even hear his tiny little heart beat in there.
