I listened through a lot of the sxsw official showcasing artists… there are some nearly 800. There will also be several hundred “unofficial” bands down there, totaling somewhere around 2,000 bands. That’s happening right now. Insane. I do wish I was there
Anyway, I found about 10% of the bands on the official showcase I would be alright with checking out live. (82 to be exact)
I did this quick and there was a lot to go through, so this isn’t extremely well thought out… But here’s a playlist of 16 of my favorites amongst those 82. Among them, Austin’s own Quiet Company. Also on the list. Mr. Gnome from the east side of Cleveland, I know they have a take it or leave it history (for me it’s mostly leave it) but their latest album is really good.
