Live From Bad Racket Recording Studios | Thaddeus Anna Greene
Ryan Augusta – Guitar, Vocals
Matt DeRubertis – Bass
Anthony Foti – Drums, Vocals
A couple months back I was in the studio with this blues guitar player, he was kinda bummed about his amp giving him tone trouble. For those of you who don’t know, tone trouble is a pretty terrible kind of trouble, you don’t want it. Voicing some frustration with a smile on his face, Thaddeus told me “I’m putting all my money into potato amplification, as in potato amplification devices. That’s made out of tubers, potatoes, spuds… I’m a researcher, man.”
Thaddeus Greene is: TG Maclin | Anthony Foti | Matt DeRubertis | Ryan Augusta
21 year old Thaddeus Greene plays as a trio with Anthony Foti on drums and Matthew Augusta on bass. All three of them are originally from the South Euclid area, have known each other since grade school and worked on their own music projects for years. All three of them are dynamite at what they do, musically… Yet somehow, the whole trio never jammed together until April of this year.
Writing the Songs
Thaddeus wrote a whole bunch of songs for an album when he was 18, but he says ” ..everything that I wrote about, I didn’t know anything about, but then it all came true over the course of 2 years. Word for word, every lyric happened. I feel like I wasn’t ready to record this when I wrote it, but now I feel like it’s honest.” That 2 year journey included moving to Chicago, a short trip down the road as a rap artist, broken windows and hospitals beds in Pittsburgh, until he got the crew together to work on his first love, this Hendrix inspired guitar driven blues rock.
It is effortlessly straight forward music, Matt said that when they were writing the parts “We jammed once and that was it, the album wrote itself I think. Thad had the songs written and had his own vision, but I think when we heard the songs we were like, ok, we know what to do.”
The Album: Directory of Thieves, recorded with Dave Douglas at danger house studios in Cleveland Heights will be available this winter. We’ll make another announcement from the social media pages when there is an official release date, for now check out his performance of ‘Please let me be’ at Bad Racket.
Thaddeus Anna Greene is a rock and roll quartet.
This Cleveland powerhouse formed in 2010 and has been brewing up a buzz ever since. With honest, and familial lyrics, Tj Maclin (lead vox, guitar) dictates the often felt yet unexpressed voice of the young man; while Ryan Augusta (guitar, vox) fills in the cracks and pairs with Maclin, providing a full-bodied presence. Matt Augusta (bass) and Anthony Foti (drums, vox) supply a rhythm section seldom seen with deep pockets and a satisfying groove. Thaddeus Anna Greene reminds the listener what it is to feel, and breaks the standard by redefining notions of blues, soul, and rock and roll.
